About VERA

VERA front building

VERA is thé center of underground Popculture in Groningen, or as we’d like to call it: Club for the International Pop Underground.

We used to be a student fraternity, and that’s how we got our name Veri Et Recti Amici (true and sincere friends). Nowadays we’re a fully equipped concert venue where many legendary bands played in their early years. To name a few: U2, Joy Division, Simple Minds, Nick Cave, Henry Rollins, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, Slayer, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Weezer, The White Stripes, At The Drive-in, Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, Editors, Interpol, Elbow, The Hives, Triggerfinger and Nothing But Thieves.

Every week there are about 4 concerts and a movie night. On saturdays we have concerts downstage and a dance night.

All of our activities couldn’t take place without our volunteers. There are over 275 at the moment. They work in a variety of groups like: bartending, artdivision, downstage, production and many more.

VERA Art Division

Bijna al het publiciteitsmateriaal wordt in eigen huis geproduceerd. Vera heeft een zeefdruk werkplaats waar de affiches in beperkte oplage (70) door een groep kunstenaars ontworpen en met de hand gedrukt worden. Deze posters hangen in Vera en worden in de stad verspreid. De posters kun je op deze site terugzien in de sectie Art Division. Daarnaast zijn er 6 vrijwilligers die posters ontwerpen voor de Downstage concerten en de Dansavonden. Deze posters vind je op de site bij Artwork. Heb je interesse om in een van deze groepen vrijwilliger te worden, meld je dan aan bij promotion@vera-groningen.nl. Let wel: het kan zijn dat er een (lange) wachtlijst is.

Poster kopen?

VERA verkoopt zelf geen posters of ander publiciteitsmateriaal. Als je geluk hebt, is er nog een poster over bij het concert. Deze leggen we dan meestal bij de merch stand neer. De meeste van de ontwerpers hebben echter wel een eigen site of webshop waarop posters te koop zijn of waarop ze te bereiken zijn. Interesse in een specifieke poster? Zoek ‘m dan hier op en ga vervolgens naar de site van de betreffende zeefdrukker. Hier vind je de sites van de actieve leden van de zeefdrukgroep:

Exposities

De Vera artdivision exposeert regelmatig buitenshuis. Jaarlijks staan we op het Noorderzon festival en op ESNS met EPEX.
